PRIEST SPELL LEVEL 2

(All)
(Evocation)

Range: 25 feet + 5 feet / 2 levels
Duration: 2 hours / level
Area of Effect: 20 foot radius emanation
Components: V, S, M
Casting time: 2
Saving Throw: None

This spell is used by followers of benevolent powers. It infuses an area with the power and alignment of their deity, blessing an area with positive energy.

Each Turn Undead attempt made within this area gains a +3 bonus to the roll, and Command Undead suffers a -3 penalty to the roll. Every undead or evil outer planar creature (Demons etc.) entering a consecrated area suffers minor disruption, giving it a -1 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves. Undead or evil outer planar creatures cannot be created within or summoned into a consecrated area. Good outer planar creatures summoned into a consecrated area gain an additional +1 hit point per HD.

If the consecrated area contains an altar, shrine or other permanent fixture dedicated to your deity, pantheon, or aligned higher power, the modifiers given above are doubled. (+6 to Turn Undead checks, -6 to Command Undead checks, -2 penalties to undead and evil summoned creatures in the area, and +2 hit points per HD).

You cannot consecrate an area with a fixture of a deity other than your own patron.
If the area does contain such a permanent fixture to a deity other than your own patron, the spell instead curses the area, cutting off its connection with the associated power. This second function doesn’t grant any of the benefits listed above, it simply causes an existing spell to cease functioning.

Consecrate counters and dispels Desecrate.

The material component is a vial of holy water and 25gp worth of silver dust (5 lbs.) all of which must be sprinkled around the area.

Desecrate

The reverse of the spell is called Desecrate.

It functions much in the same way as the spell above, but it is used by followers of malevolent powers.

This spell infuses an area with the power and alignment of their deity, imbuing an area with negative energy.

Each Turn Undead attempt made within this area gains a -3 penalty to the roll, and Command Undead gains a +3 bonus to the roll. Every undead or evil outer planar creature (Demons etc.) entering a desecrated area is granted a minor boon, giving it a +1 bonus on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves. Undead or evil outer planar creatures created within or summoned into a desecrated area gain an additional +1 hit point per HD.

If the desecrated area contains an altar, shrine or other permanent fixture dedicated to your deity, pantheon, or aligned higher power, the modifiers given above are doubled. (-6 to Turn Undead checks, +6 to Command Undead checks, +2 bonuses to undead and evil summoned creatures in the area, and +2 hit points per HD).
Furthermore, anyone who casts Animate Dead within the area may create as many as double the normal amount of undead.

If the area contains a permanent fixture to a deity other than your own patron, the spell instead curses the area, cutting off its connection with the associated power. This second function doesn’t grant any of the benefits listed above, it simply causes an existing spell to cease functioning.

Desecrate counters and dispels Consecrate.

The material component is a vial of unholy water or sacrificial blood of a recent kill and 25gp worth of silver dust (5 lbs.) all of which must be sprinkled around the area.
